Job title:  Intramural Sports Attendant

Hourly Rate: $15.50

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

 Intramural Staff will be responsible for overseeing assigned games to make sure the score and time are accurate and that rules are followed and participant safety is maintained. Intramural Staff will help with set up and break down of the facility, recording stats, communicating correct policies/procedures and maintaining equipment.

  • Check in all participants by verifying identification card and utilizing fusion and teams before each competition. In addition to checking them in, also ensure correct attire of each participant.
  • Maintain an accurate score and time throughout the competition.
  • Record points, fouls, and any other statistics as assigned.
  • Report results and scores of intramural competition to Intramural Lead.
  • Responsible for preparing incident and safety checklist reports, and contacting the appropriate personnel, especially in case of emergencies within a necessary timeframe.
  • Must maintain strict adherence to all policies and procedures.
  • Setup equipment for Intramural Sports contests and breakdown at its conclusion.
  • Ensure team captains sign the scoresheet.
  • Communicate game information to other staff members, and team captains.
  • Attending all training sessions and demonstrate proficiency in understanding of rules and Intramural policy.
  • Provide a friendly, upbeat and customer service oriented environment at all times.
  • Help patrons learn more about what the sport they are participating in.
  • Compliance in evaluation process.
  • Respond to emergency situations according to level of first responder training.
  • Handle on site disputes involving player conflict and rule interpretation.
  • Attend all addition in-service training sessions throughout the year.
  • Control disruptions on the sideline while games are in progress
  • Provide positive public relations, program promotion, and policy education to participants (Recruiting).
  • Assist in specific special events.
  • Must attend all mandatory meetings.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment for Intramural participants and the program.
  • other duties as assigned 

 

Education, Work Experience Requirements and Abilities:

Education:

  • Must be enrolled in or accepted to California State University Fullerton.

Experience:

  • Previous recreational experience preferred.

Knowledge and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of game and rules and Intramural Policies.
  • Ability to operate a scoreboard.
  • Ability to score keep all Intramural competition
  • Must be able to maintain strict adherence to all policies and procedures.
  • Ability to officiate multiple Intramural Sports.
  • Must be able to be on time, prepared to work and adhere to department dress code.
  • Ability to work with people from diverse backgrounds.
  • Know, apply, and enforce rules for assigned sport/activity.
  • Demonstrates good verbal and non-verbal communication skills.
  • Displays a positive attitude with customers, coworkers and toward work.
  • Demonstrates the ability to help others adapt to new situations.
  • Must be able to accept instruction/constructive criticism from supervisor.
  • Must be able to recover from and continue to work successfully following disappointments, setbacks, or mistakes.
  • Must be able to work through bad experiences by assessing what caused them, what can be done to repair them and how to avoid them in the future.
  • Must be able to keep an accurate record of hours worked by clocking in and out correctly.

Additional Requirements:

Typical Mental Requirements: 

  • Patience, concentration, and understanding for long periods of time.  

Typical Physical Requirements:

• Must be physically able to work outdoors and stand for long periods of time at minimum 6 hours per day.
• Must be able to safely carry and lift up to 50 lbs.

Special Requirements

  • Participation in Campus Recreation Intramural training clinic.
  • Grade of 85% or higher in written report score keeping test.
  • Average rating of “4” or higher on Intramural Staff performance evaluation.
  • Must obtain First Aid/CPR/AED Certification within 30 days of employment.
  • Required to be a Limited Mandatory Reporter and sign ASI Limited Mandatory Reporter Form.
