This is a part-time (20 hours/week), position with expected hours to be worked during business hours of Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5:00 p.m |
Job Summary: |
Under the supervision of the Director of Organizational Communication and Outreach, the student communications assistant supports ASI in its digital, written, and verbal communications. |
Essential Job Functions: |
· This position will write for print and digital platforms, providing a distinct, cohesive brand voice and clear content strategy for targeted audiences. · Mark copy to indicate and correct errors in type, arrangement, grammar, punctuation, or spelling, using standard printers' marks. · Read corrected copies or proofs to ensure that all corrections have been made. · Route proofs with marked corrections to authors, editors, typists, or typesetters for correction or reprinting. · Provide quality, professional, friendly, and courteous customer service with everyone. · Other duties as assigned |
Customer Service & Collaboration: |
· Establishes and maintains working relationships with various A.S. and University departments |
Safety: |
· Ensures all operations are conducted with safety of staff and customers as first priority, and in accordance with the Injury and Illness Prevention Plan and other safety policies. · Reports accidents to supervisor and reviews changes required to avoid reoccurrence. · Reports maintenance problems and/or broken and unsafe equipment to the appropriate party or supervisor immediately |
Requirements: |
· Must be a currently enrolled California State University Fullerton student in good academic standing. · Previous experience in copy editing is preferred · Knowledge of AP Style preferred |
Trainings: |
· Must complete: o Bloodborne Pathogens o Campus Health and Safety Requirements o CSU’S Discrimination Harassment Prevention Program o Data Security and FERPA o Gender Equity and Title IX o Injury and Illness Prevention Program (IIPP) o Introduction to Racial Equity Module within 30 days of hire |
Work Environment: |
· General office environment · Work is generally sedentary in nature, but may require standing and walking around campus. · The working environment is generally favorable · Lighting and temperature are adequate · There are no hazardous or unpleasant work conditions caused by noise, dust, etc. · Work is generally performed in an office environment, with standard office equipment available
