Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

The Building Manager is responsible for monitoring activities, services, and general operation of the Titan Student Union. The Building Manager is expected to be proficient with a variety of building systems including audio-visual equipment and computerized environmental control systems. The Building Manager will be required to make independent decisions in the areas of facility management, emergency management, event support, and customer service.

• Open and close the Titan Student Union (TSU) for regular and special operating hours.
• Monitor the TSU for cleanliness and general presentability. Reset and clean common area furniture as needed.
• Perform regular safety and security checks of all interior and exterior areas of the TSU.
• Monitor events and meetings to ensure facilities and equipment are properly used.
• Prepare and submit records of customer use, including periodic area counts, equipment check-outs, and study room checkouts.
• Enforce TSU policies and standard practices. Prepare and submit accident/incident reports. Contact appropriate TSU personnel in case of emergency and oversee all emergency management functions in the absence of full-time staff.
• Conduct customer service in a courteous and professional manner.
• Identify and report any malfunctions of lighting, doors, locks, plumbing systems or other facility issues to supervisor or other Operations staff member.
• Conduct inventory of audio-visual equipment during scheduled security checks or in the absence of event attendants.
• Assist with events as needed, including aiding with late reservations, audio visual setups or teardowns, and equipment troubleshooting.
• Maintain strict adherence to safety procedures. Attend regularly scheduled safety meetings.

 

Education, Work Experience Requirements and Abilities:

Education

• Must be a student at CSUF and is enrolled/registered in a current regular semester as a new or continuing student.

Experience

• Experience with two other ASI positions, one with regular customer interaction, preferred.

Knowledge and Abilities

• Ability to effectively interact with a diverse population, including students, faculty/staff, and off-campus visitors.
• Ability to work independently and carry out assignments to completion within parameters of instructions given, prescribed routines, and standard accepted practices.
• Must be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines, while maintaining a positive attitude and provide exemplary customer service.

• Simple reading and writing, memorization, judgment, decision-making, perception and comprehension.

Typical Physical Requirements

• Physical demands will include lifting, pushing, pulling, walking, walking over rough and uneven surfaces, bending, stooping, climbing, working in confined spaces, and transporting equipment.
• Manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination, corrected hearing and vision to normal range
• Must be able to safely lift and carry up to 50 lbs.

Special Requirements
• Must receive First Aid/CPR/AED Lay Responder Certification within 3 months of hire.
• Available to work weekends, nights and holidays.
• Required to be a Mandatory Reporter and sign ASI Limited Mandatory Reporter Form.
