Position Title: Graduate Assistant - Student Programs and Engagement 

 

Hourly Compensation: $18.25

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • As directed, co-advises student leaders on developing, facilitating, and evaluating programs and events
  • Attends and monitors ASI events to ensure safety and to mitigate risk
  • As directed, facilitate student leadership training and development for student leaders throughout the year
  • Apply program policies and procedures; Review financial paperwork and proposals
  • Appropriately apply ASI and University policies and procedures
  • Facilitate and encourage cross-collaboration among ASI programming groups
  • As directed, attend weekly group meetings and meet individually with student leaders to monitor progress of events and to provide guidance
  • Other duties as assigned

Education:

  • B.S/B.A. degree required.
  • Must be enrolled/enrolling in a graduate degree program focusing on higher education or student affairs.

Knowledge and Abilities:

  • Must possess strong interpersonal skills with ability to establish and maintain effective, cooperative, and harmonious relationships within a diverse campus environment. Ability to effectively organize, lead, train and direct the efforts of student leaders and volunteers and engender support for various programs and projects.
  • Must be able to interpret and carryout Associated Students Inc. and University policies. Ability to interpret and apply program policies and procedures. Ability to rapidly acquire a general knowledge of the overall operation, functions, and programs of the Associated Students Inc. Ability to use initiative and resourcefulness in planning work assignments and in implementing long-range program improvements.
  • Demonstrated ability to make decisions and carry through actions having implications with regards to other programs or service areas.
  • Word processing, excel, and outlook knowledge required. Strong written and oral communication skills.

Typical Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to lift, lower, push, and pull loads ranging in weight from 5-35lbs
  • Must be able to carry loads ranging from 5-35lbs for distances up to 20 feet
  • Must adhere to back safety and proper lifting techniques
  • Must be able to communicate clearly
