Hours:

Up to 20 hours per week. May be required to work nights and weekends.

Job Summary:

Under moderate supervision, the Set-Up Assistant is primarily responsible for setting up diagrammed map layouts for functions and for assisting with the daily and event logistics of the Titan Student Union

The Set up Assistant will support ASI’s DEI plan in all programming, services, and interactions.

Essential Job Functions:

·         Setting up, and taking down equipment for events, following maps as drawn on reservation forms.

·         Set up 6ft tables and round tables. Place skirts as directed.

·         Set up panel back drops as required.

·         Set up portable dance floor and stages as required.

·         Rearrange various rooms as requested.

·         Set up assembly-type chairs.

·         Clean chairs and tables.

·         As needed, vacuum carpet, sweep and damp mop and change trash can liners.

·         Ensure customer service is conducted in a courteous and professional manner to customers and all other employees.

·         Maintain strict adherence to safety procedures. Attend safety meetings as scheduled.

·         Report any broken chairs, tables, stages, or any other furniture in need of repairs to Operations Supervisor.

·         Assist with furniture relocations and minor assembly.

·         Other duties as assigned

Customer Service & Collaboration:

·         Establishes and maintains working relationships with various A.S. and University departments

Safety:

·         Ensures all operations are conducted with safety of staff and customers as first priority, and in accordance with the Injury and Illness Prevention Plan and other safety policies.

·         Reports accidents to supervisor and reviews changes required to avoid reoccurrence.

·         Reports maintenance problems and/or broken and unsafe equipment to the appropriate party or supervisor immediately

Requirements:

·         Must be a currently enrolled California State University Fullerton student in good academic standing

·         Must receive First Aid/CPR/AED Lay Responder Certification within 3 months of hire

Trainings:

·         Must complete:

o   Bloodborne Pathogens

o   Campus Health and Safety Requirements

o   CSU’S Discrimination Harassment Prevention Program

o   Data Security and FERPA

o   Gender Equity and Title IX

o   Injury and Illness Prevention Program (IIPP)

within 30 days of hire

Work Environment:

·         Work is typically performed indoors in a climate- controlled environment

·         Tasks require a variety of physical activities, generally involving muscular strain related to walking, stooping, sitting, reaching, lifting, and carrying up to 50 lbs

·         The working environment is generally favorable

There are no hazardous or unpleasant work conditions caused by noise, dust, etc

Physical Demands:

  • Physical requirements include but are not limited to:  walking, walking over rough or uneven surfaces, bending, stooping, climbing, and working in confined space, lifting, pushing, pulling and carrying loads.
  • Must be physically able to complete lifting, pushing, pulling, moving and carrying items up to 50 pounds (unassisted) and 100 pounds (with assistance), and using ladders.
