$16.86 per hour

Hours:

Up to 20 hours per week June 3rd-August 8th

Job Summary:

This is a seasonal position that requires consistent availability throughout the
program, including any scheduled trainings before the session begins. The program runs from June 17th-August 8th. Lifeguard will be responsible for observing safety standard for pool both in water and on deck and will complete daily records and chemical checks. Will assist Water Safety Instructor with learn to swim classes.

Swim Lesson Schedule:

Training: June 3rd, 4th, 10th,11th,12th,14th.

Session 1: June 17-26th 

Session 2: June 30th-July10th

Session 3: July 14th-July 24th

Session 4: July 28th-August 7th
Fridays and weekends off


Essential Job Functions:    

  • Maintain constant surveillance of swimmers and instructors during swim lessons to ensure participant safety and enforce pool regulations.
  • Recognize and respond quickly and effectively to emergency situations, providing first aid, CPR, and water rescues as necessary.
  • Assist swim instructors with lesson setup and breakdown, including organizing equipment and maintaining a clean pool deck.
  • Support instructors during lessons by monitoring students, providing assistance as needed, and ensuring smooth lesson transitions.
  • Ensure all participants follow pool safety rules and report any safety concerns to the Aquatics Supervisor.
  • Complete and submit required incident reports, maintenance requests, and daily checklists as needed.
  • Perform regular patrols and routine maintenance of the aquatic facility, including monitoring water conditions and reporting any hazards.
  • Attend required trainings, meetings, and certifications to stay up to date on safety procedures and best practices.

Customer Service & Collaboration:

  •       Provide friendly and professional customer service to participants, parents, and staff by addressing questions and concerns in a courteous manner.
  •       Collaborate with swim instructors and aquatic staff to ensure smooth class operations and a positive experience for all participants.
  •       Communicate effectively with supervisors, instructors, and fellow lifeguards to maintain a cohesive and efficient aquatic team.
  •       Assist in resolving minor participant concerns and escalate larger issues to the appropriate supervisor.

Safety:

  • Maintain a high level of vigilance at all times, proactively identifying potential risks and hazards.
  •        Enforce all pool safety standards, facility policies, and emergency procedures to ensure a safe environment for all participants.
  • Conduct routine safety checks of pool areas, equipment, and emergency supplies, reporting any concerns immediately.
  • Stay up to date on lifeguarding best practices, participating in in-service trainings and safety drills.
  •        Be prepared to respond swiftly and effectively to all aquatic emergencies, following proper rescue and emergency action plans.

Requirements:

  • Aquatics, swim team, or water polo experience is preferred
  • Must be able to swim 300 yards continuously using - front crawl, backstroke and breaststroke
  • Must be able to swim 20 yards, retrieve a 10-pound object and remove it from the pool within 1 minute & 30 seconds
  • Must be available from the hours of 3:30pm-7:00pm Monday-Thursday.
  • Full availability for at least one full two-week session is required. Time- off requests during a session may not be accommodated.

Trainings:

All Lifeguards must have a current Lifeguarding certification through the American

 

Red Cross or the ability to obtain one.

 

All staff members must attend all training dates:

 

June 3rd and 4th 9am-12pm

 

June 10th-12th 9am-12pm

 

Summer Kickoff: June 14th 11:00am-2pm

Work Environment:

        This position requires being outdoors and in water for a minimum of 3.5 hours per day

         Occasional environmental exposures to cold, heat, and water

         Moderate noise level

         Active and very lively environment
