The TYSC Program Lead will support ASI’s DEI plan in all programming, services, and interactions.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assists the Intramural and Camp Coordinator with programming, planning, and preparation of Titan Youth Summer Camp.
  • Assists the Intramural and Camp Coordinator by overseeing Camp Counselors, Program Assistants, CIT, and delivering youth activities and programs for minors ages 4 to 12.
  • Assists with leading day-to-day camp operations, including opening and closing procedures, organizing activities, coordinating snacks/lunches, and addressing parental concerns as needed.
  • Review setup for daily activities with Program Assistants to ensure all activity spaces are set up accordingly.
  • Assist in the hiring process and training of TYSC student staff.
  • Assists the Intramural and Camp Coordinator in leading weekly staff meetings.
  • Remains alert for the safety of participants at all times
  • Assists the Intramural and Camp Coordinator with camper behavioral challenges.
  • Assists in maintaining accurate program records, including incident reports, logbook documentation, and daily attendance.
  • Knows, enforces and follows all emergency procedures and safety guidelines associated with the camp program, including knowing the whereabouts of your charges at all times.
  • Responsible for promoting a safe and fun environment for campers by adhering to and enforcing the policies and procedures of the University, the Associated Students Inc., CSUF, and ASI Titan Recreation.
  • Maintains a high standard of customer service.
  • Reports basic concerns to Intramural and Camp Coordinator. Incidents, resolutions,

Education, Work Experience Requirements, and Abilities:

Education:

  • Must be enrolled in or accepted to California State University Fullerton.

Experience:

  • Education classes or previous experience in camp, youth programs, recreation, working with children, or in a related field.
  • Preferred experience employed as a TYSC Program Assistant or TYSC Counselor.

Knowledge and Abilities:

  • Must love working with and mentoring children.
  • Ability to work independently and make decisions by established policies and regulations.
  • Must be able to maintain strict adherence to all policies and procedures.
  • Must be on time, prepared to work, and adhere to the department dress code.
  • Must be able to keep an accurate record of hours worked by clocking in and out correctly.
  • Must be committed, punctual, and patient
  • Must be a team player.
  • Ability to work under stressful situations.
  • Ability to work with people from diverse backgrounds and interests.

Additional Requirements:

Typical Mental Requirements: 

  • Patience, concentration, and understanding for long periods.

Typical Physical Requirements:

  • Must be physically able to work outdoors and stand for long periods at a minimum of 6 hours per day.
  • Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state, and local standards, including meeting qualitative and quantitative productivity standards.
  • Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state, and local standards
  • Must be able to carry and lift to 50 lbs safely.

 

Special Requirements

  • Must obtain First Aid/CPR/AED Certification within 30 days of employment.
  • Must be willing to participate in various sports/activities.
  • Required to be a General Mandated Reporter and sign the ASI General Mandated Reporter Form.
  • Upon hiring, criminal background investigation and fingerprint screening will be completed.
  • Must fulfill responsibilities of a CA Mandated Reporter of Child Abuse.
  • Must provide completed health screen within 30 days of employment.
