Position Title: Building Engineering Assistant

Hourly Compensation: $16.00

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Under moderate supervision from the Chief Building Engineer and guidance from the Building Engineers, the student Building Engineer Assistant  is responsible for assisting Building Engineers in the maintenance, repair, and alteration of the Titan Student Union, Student Recreation Center and Children Center building and building systems.

 

  • Assist with the repair and preventative maintenance of various HVAC equipment throughout ASI, such as Air handlers, VAV’s, and central plant equipment.
  • Assist with the repair of commercial kitchen equipment including: stoves; refrigerators; freezers; disposals; drain systems; exhaust hoods; and related equipment.
  • Assist with minor structural repairs and maintenance of wall surfaces, floor coverings, and building fixtures.
  • Assist with weekly inspections of outdoor and indoor lighting systems, conducting re-lamping as needed.
  • Assist with the repair and maintenance of plumbing systems and components as needed.
  • Assist with minor construction projects.
  • Assist with minor structural repairs and maintenance of building fixtures.
  • Assist with scheduled inspections of facilities and report areas requiring maintenance, repair or replacement.
  • Assist with daily inspections to identify/eliminate safety hazards and determine facility maintenance needs.
  • Assist with occasional custodial-related tasks.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education, Work Experience Requirements and Abilities:

Education:
• Must be an enrolled student at California State University, Fullerton

Experience:

  • Prior related experience preferred.
  • Must have experience in utilizing hand tools.
  • Must be timely and dependable.

Knowledge and Abilities:

  • Ability to work with people from diverse backgrounds and interests.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including ability to effectively communicate with internal and external customers.
  • Must be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines, while maintaining a positive attitude and providing exemplary customer service.
