Position Title: Food Pantry Assistant 

Hourly Compensation: $15.50

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Using the department’s vehicle, drive for food pickup, ordering, or delivery as needed.
  • Using the department credit card, purchase food for the food pantry as needed
    Provide general front desk duties that include answering the phone, handling walk-in inquiries, and taking messages.
  • Assist in receiving of product, as well as loading and unloading.
  • Assist in proper product placement, rotation, positioning, storage, and handling.
  • Maintain inventory of food and disbursement of food.
  • Adhere to food handling safety guidelines as well as physical ergonomics safety standard guidelines.
  • Perform daily, weekly, and monthly space maintenance of food pantry, storage room and any supplies.
  • Maintain a clean and orderly space.
  • Attend and participate in programming meetings.
  • Maintain, update, and organize the Food Pantry email account and respond to and/or forward messages appropriately.
  • Ensure customer service is conducted in a courteous and professional manner to students and all other employees.
  • Assist with event set-up, event execution, and event break-down.
  • Maintain list of on-campus resources that promote food security.
  • Assist in ordering specific products based on the needs of the Food Pantry.
  • Maintain strict adherence to safety procedures; attend safety meetings as scheduled.
  • Complete ServSafe Food Handler training and other ASI-related trainings.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality relating to any and all information associated with the Food Pantry. 
  • Perform other duties as assigned  

 
Education, Work Experience Requirements and Abilities:

Education:
• Must be an enrolled student at California State University, Fullerton

Experience:
• Customer Service experience recommended
• Have proven experience working cooperatively as part of a team
• Valid CA driver's license preferred

 

Knowledge and Abilities:
• Must be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines, while maintaining a positive attitude and providing exemplary customer services.
• Ability to work independently and to carry out assignments.
• Model, promote, and consistently enforce ASI and TSU policies.

Typical Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to lift, lower, push, and pull loads ranging in weight from 5-50lbs
  • Must be able to carry loads ranging from 5-50 lbs for distances up to 20 feet
  • Must be capable of kneeling, reaching overheard, climbing stairs and ladders, walking, twisting, stooping, and bending
