Position Title: Titan Outdoors Expedition Leader

 

Hourly Compensation: $15.50

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Under general supervision, the expedition leader will safely and professionally facilitate safe and appropriate participation in Titan Outdoor activities.

• Assist with all trip responsibilities while leading participants through Titan Outdoors expeditions and instructional clinics
• Have appropriate experience in the activity areas and be capable of leading and teaching in those skills
• Oversee the safety and welfare of participants
• Provide a positive and high quality experience
• Demonstrate maturity and good judgment
• Assist with trip and clinic logistics, planning and implementation
• Attend trip leader trainings, workshops and meetings
• Be responsible for all trip paperwork, gear checkout, and answering participant questions and concerns
• Conduct pre-activity meeting
• Know and enforce all policies and procedures
• Participate in all in-service training sessions and mandatory meetings
• Operate cash register and credit card machine for rentals and resale
• Clean and maintain program and rental equipment.


Education:
• Must be an enrolled student in or accepted to California State University Fullerton.

Experience:
• Outdoor recreation experience is preferred.

Knowledge and Abilities:
• Must maintain outstanding customer service and communication skills.
• Ability to maintain strict safety standards, procedures, and proper technique to reduce risk.
• Must be able to work well with faculty, staff, students, and general public.
• Ability to work with a diverse student population and campus community.
• Must be able to be on time, prepared for work, and adhere to department dress code.
• Must be able to demonstrate leadership skills when working with peers.
• Ability to maintain professional work conduct.
• Ability to adhere to work rules, follow directions, use time effectively and work productively under general supervision.
• Ability to follow routine verbal and written instructions.

• Patience, concentration, and understanding for long periods of time.

Typical Physical Requirements:
• Ability to safely and successfully preform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state, and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.
• Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state, and local standards
• Must be able to lift up to 80 lbs properly.
• Frequently required to sit, talk, listen and walk; manual dexterity and eye-hand coordination; corrected hearing and vision to normal range; clear verbal communication.
• Must be physically able to work indoors and outdoors for a minimum of 6 hours and stand for long periods of time.

Special Requirements
• Required to be limited mandated reporter.
• Wilderness First Aid and CPR certification required within thirty (60) days of employment.
• Will be required to work evenings, nights and weekends as needed.
