Position Title: Clerical Assistant 

 

Hourly Compensation: $15.50

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

The UCC Clerical Assistant assists the conference center staff in the daily operations of the University Conference Center, to include providing excellent customer service, assisting with reservations, and performing office tasks.

• Respond to telephone and walk-in inquiries, schedule appointments, provide directions and maps as requested, take messages, and address reservation requests.
• Receive, process, and use computer reservation system (Event Management Systems) to generate reservations for student groups, on-campus, and off-campus clients.
• Advise groups and individuals of TSU policies and procedures for reservations, food services, room capacities, set-up styles, and equipment use.
• Produce daily and weekly reports for use by TSU staff and campus community. Calculate simple reports and cost studies.
• Coordinate follow-up evaluations on all events occurring at the University Conference Center.
• Assist in setup and reorganization of files. Maintain filing system.
• Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
• Maintain strict adherence to safety procedures. Attend safety meetings as scheduled.
• Actively participate in departmental and interdepartmental trainings and meetings.
• Provide room and event location tours to clients as needed

• Other duties as assigned.

 

Education, Work Experience Requirements and Abilities:

Education

• Must be an enrolled student at California State University, Fullerton

Experience

• One year business office experience preferred.
• Word processing skills and computer spreadsheet experience required.

Knowledge and Abilities

• Must be able to accurately type at least 35-45 wpm.
• Must have effective written and verbal communication skills.
• Must be able to work independently.
• Must be able to maintain confidentiality.
• Works effectively with coworkers, customers, and others by sharing ideas in constructive and positive manner.
• Must be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines, while maintaining a positive attitude and providing exemplary customer service.
• Listening to and objectively considering ideas and suggestions from others. • Simple reading and writing, memorization, judgment, decision-making, perception and comprehension.

Typical Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to lift, lower, push, and pull loads ranging in weight from 5-35lbs
  • Must be able to carry loads ranging from 5-35lbs for distances up to 20 feet
