Position Definition:

The Programming Coordinator is a key member of the Student Programs and Engagement Department within Associated Students Inc., CSUF. This position is responsible for the planning, development, and execution of a diverse range of programs and events designed to enhance the student experience and promote student engagement on campus. The Programming Coordinator collaborates with various stakeholders including student organizations, campus departments, and external partners, to create and implement inclusive, educational, and entertaining activities that meet the needs and interests of CSUF students.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

 

Program Development and Implementation:

o Conceptualize, plan, and coordinate a comprehensive calendar of events and programs for the student body.

o Conduct research to identify emerging trends, interests, and needs of CSUF students to ensure programming relevance and appeal.

o Collaborate with student organizations, campus departments, and external partners to develop partnerships and plan collaborative events.

o Coordinate logistics, including venue selection, budget management, scheduling, equipment needs, and event marketing.

o Ensure compliance with university policies, procedures, and regulations during event planning and execution.

o Oversee event setup, execution, and teardown to ensure smooth operations and a positive participant experience.

Student Engagement:

o Foster an inclusive and vibrant campus community by creating programming that appeals to a diverse student population.

o Provide guidance and support to student organizations in planning and executing their own events.

o Encourage student involvement and active participation in campus programming through effective communication and promotion.

o Collaborate with campus departments and student organizations to identify opportunities for cross-programming and collaboration.

Budget and Resource Management:

o Develop and manage programming budgets, ensuring responsible allocation of resources and adherence to financial guidelines.

o Seek and secure sponsorships, grants, and funding opportunities to enhance programming initiatives.

o Maintain accurate records of expenses, revenue, and other financial aspects related to programming activities.

Marketing and Outreach:

o Develop and implement marketing strategies to effectively promote programs and events to the CSUF student community.

o Create engaging content for various communication channels, including social media, website, newsletters, and campus digital displays.

o Collaborate with marketing staff and designers to develop promotional materials that effectively convey event details and engage the target audience.

Assessment and Evaluation:

o Establish and implement assessment strategies to measure the effectiveness and impact of programming initiatives.

o Collect and analyze data, feedback, and evaluations to inform future program planning and improvements.

o Prepare comprehensive reports on program outcomes, attendance, and participant feedback for departmental and campus-wide use.

Education:            

Bachelor’s degree in higher education, student development, business or public administration, or related field required, master’s degree preferred.

 

Experience:

Minimum of 2 years of professional experience in a student services program area, or in a related field required. Experience working in a higher education setting is preferred

 

Knowledge and Abilities: 

·         Understanding of student needs, interests, and developmental stages within a university setting.

·         Familiarity with all aspects of event coordination, including logistics, budgeting, scheduling, and risk management.

·         Understanding of various marketing channels, including social media, digital platforms, and traditional methods, to effectively reach a student audience.

·         Ability to develop and manage budgets, track expenses, and ensure adherence to financial guidelines.

·         Familiarity with campus regulations, event approval processes, and compliance requirements.

·         Understanding of data collection and analysis techniques to measure program effectiveness and impact.

·         Understanding of the internal structure of the university, and the different student organizations.

·         Ability to conceptualize, plan, and execute a diverse range of events and programs.

·         Ability to develop and manage budgets, track expenses, and ensure responsible allocation of resources.

·         Ability to develop and implement marketing strategies, create engaging content, and effectively communicate with diverse audiences.

Typical Physical and Mental Requirements:

·         Sitting and standing for extended periods: The role involves significant computer work and meetings, requiring sustained sitting or standing.

·         Walking and climbing stairs: Moving around the campus, attending events, and potentially using stairs regularly.

·         Lifting and carrying moderate weight: This could include lifting and carrying materials for presentations, events, or production activities no more than 25lbs.

·         Dexterity and fine motor skills: Operating computer equipment, handling small objects, and performing tasks requiring hand-eye coordination.

·         Visual and auditory acuity: Effective communication and interaction in various settings require good vision and hearing.

Special Requirements

·         Employment will be contingent on a satisfactory employment history and criminal background investigation.

·         May be required to drive occasionally as needed. Valid driver’s license and current auto insurance must be on file at all times and must meet CSURMA driving standards.

·         Occasional nights and weekend work required in support of events and programming.

·         Required to be a Mandatory Reporter and sign ASI Mandatory Reporter Form.
